Zoom Expectations for Grades K-8

In RDConnects@Home, we will continue to use Zoom as our primary learning management system (LMS). While using Zoom, all students are expected to:
  • Have their camera on at all times
*This is important for teachers because it is very difficult to effectively teach when it is not possible to see all of our students. While this expectation is critical for a highly effective classroom and learning experience on Zoom, we recognize that all family situations are different and it may be challenging for students to be on camera for a variety of reasons. If consistently being on camera will be a challenge for you/your student, please discuss this with your teacher/advisor.

  • Use their real name throughout the Zoom session

  • Enter Zoom with their microphone on the “off” setting to minimize audible distractions

  • Maintain a natural background and avoid using distracting virtual backgrounds

  • Not take screenshots, photos, or recordings of a Zoom class

  • Only share the Zoom link with classmates

  • Be respectful and kind to classmates; follow all guidelines and expectations for student behavior as outlined in the Redwood Day Community Handbook

  • Reserve chat feature for class-related questions or comments only

  • Wear headphones during class and activities when directed (Grades 4-8)
