A charitable gift of long-term appreciated securities can provide a double benefit—an immediate income-tax deduction for the full fair-market value of the securities and the avoidance of capital-gain tax.
There are two documents (both located in the Downloads section of this page) needed for the stock transfer. Please fill out both forms and submit the Stock Donation Broker Form to your broker and The Stock Donation Advancement form to the Advancement office (via email or drop off at the front desk) before initiating any securities gift. • IRA qualified charitable distribution (QCD)

You may also be able to make a gift to Redwood Day with a “qualified charitable distribution” or “IRA charitable rollover” from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and take advantage of tax savings. If you are of the age to qualify, amounts distributed as a QCD can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distribution for the year, up to $100,000 and the QCD may be excluded from your taxable income. Please contact your tax advisor for more information.
  • Planned Giving

Planned giving vehicles such as gift annuities or remainder trusts can help minimize taxes and maximize your annual income, while generating income for the School. Many families also choose to make charitable gifts in their estate plans through a bequest or by naming Redwood Day as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement account. To discuss your gift, please contact the Advancement Department.
