WINTER 2025-26 ASP ENRICHMENT CLASSES

Redwood Day allows students to explore talents and interests outside the school curriculum. Instructors are dedicated educators from within the school community and the greater Bay Area. 
 
ENROLLMENT: Everyone must register online through UltraCamp. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollments are not met. If a class does not meet its minimum enrollment and is canceled, families will be notified and reimbursed for the class. 
 
CHANGES/CANCELLATIONS: In order to provide some flexibility in our programs, all classes may be canceled after the first week with a full refund. Unfortunately, after our second class, we will not be able to provide any refunds for classes. Please note that there will be a cancellation fee of 3% charged for all refunds. This fee is meant to cover the related credit card charges that are charged to the School for the initial payment processing
 
BILLING: Students attending enrichment classes must sign in to X-Care at dismissal. In order to sign up for our enrichment offerings at the rate listed, you need to be enrolled in our X-Care or X-Plus program. Students enrolled in the hourly X-Care/X-Plus time will be billed for any time spent in X-Care before or after their enrichment class but not during class time. If you are not enrolled in X-Care or X-Plus you may not be able to enroll when classes are available in UltraCamp.
 
If you are looking to utilize your discounted tuition rate for our after-school program registration, enter your student’s information in the format of First InitialLast Name for the discount code [e.g., John Smith would be JSmith]. There are no spaces or hyphens in your discount code.

MONDAY

  • Jr. Tennis

    Grade: Kindergarten & 1st Grade
    Time: 3:15-4:10 p.m.
    Instructor: Higgins Tennis
    Rate: $415

    Students  learn stroke fundamentals: forehands, backhands, and the basics of rallying then incorporate what they learned into beginning games like Ghostbusters, Angry Birds Tennis, and Skyball. This class is great for beginner Tennis players. If you have a racket feel free to bring it! But no need to have one to join.
  • Tennis

    Grade: 1st-3rd Grade
    Time: 4:10-5:10 p.m.

  • Sewing

    Grades: 3rd-5th Grades

    Students will learn to design and sew a fashion project over the course of the trimester. They will learn to safely operate a professional sewing machine and iron, read a sewing pattern, and illustrate their designs. Class will emphasize design creativity and garment construction skill-building in a positive and patient learning environment. All of the materials will be provided including high-quality fabrics, threads, and personalized embroidery. There will be a new project each trimester!

  • Write and Wonder

    Students bring their big ideas to life through poems, short stories, graphic-novel pages, and creative photo-stories! Each session blends engaging mini-lessons with hands-on time to experiment, write, and share. They practice key writing skills, explore new ways to express themselves, and build confidence in their storytelling. This joyful, supportive class is the perfect space for curious minds to develop creativity, literacy, and a love of writing.
  • Math Olympiad

    Grade: 4th & 5th Grades
    Time: 3:30-4:15 p.m.
    Dates: On Tuesdays from December 2 , 2025 through March 24, 2026

    Q: What is Math Olympiad?
    It’s a worldwide math competition, with around 170,000 competitors across 35 countries.
     
    Q: What do students do?
    Students meet as a group weekly. During some sessions, they work through practice problems together and in small groups. Once or twice a month, they take the official Olympiad Test, which consists of five problems.
     
    Q: Do I need any previous experience or be a math genius?
    No! It is a VERY informal math competition. The primary purpose is to challenge yourself, cultivate a growth mindset, and think more critically about math. It's mostly just hanging out with friends while solving math problems.

  • Explorations in Drawing (Grades K-1)

Each week we will experiment with a new idea, technique or material to see what we make, playing with realistic drawing techniques, cartooning, character design, color, printmaking, mixed media and so much more. This class is great for students who want to explore their creativity on paper!

    If your child enjoys the gardening program at Redwood Day, then they'll love digging in the dirt after-school with The Nurtured Seedling. In this Fall Gardening class series, students in grades 1st-3rd will embark on a hands-on exploration to connect with nature and learn about where their food comes from. They will plant and care for their crops while also expressing their creativity through art projects and cooking inspired by the beauty of a Fall Garden. Students will learn about soil health, composting and eco-friendly gardening practices.

    While some projects will be things students can take home to care for or enjoy, we will also have group projects creating something for the school community at large that will live on well beyond this session. In this session, students will explore how to create positive social change through gardening, fostering teamwork, and promoting environmental stewardship, all while having fun with their friends!
  • Crystal & Rock Exploration

    Grade: 1st & 2nd Grades
    Time: 3:30-4:30 p.m.
    Instructor: Grasshopper Kids

    🌟 Embark on a sparkling adventure! In this enchanting series, students will dive into the magical world of crystals and minerals, discovering their unique properties and how they promote the flow of good energy for physical and emotional well-being. With hands-on activities, kids will not only enhance their creative skills by painting stones but also explore the incredible benefits that crystals can bring to their lives. 🌈

    This captivating experience will also unveil secrets from Earth's ancient past, as rocks hold the answers to our planet's history and evolution. Through interactive learning, students will uncover how the Earth has transformed over time, making this journey both educational and inspiring. Perfect for young geologists and artists alike, this series is a treasure trove of wonder and discovery!

    STEM + Art Exploration for Kindergarten
    Step into The Color Lab, where science and art team up to explore the magic of colors! In this playful, hands-on class, students experiment like real mini–scientists as they mix, sort, compare, and create with color. Through guided STEM investigations and imaginative art projects, children learn how colors blend and how colors can express feelings and ideas.

    Mindy Myers will return this session to run her on site cooking classes this session. Mindy has run programs here at Redwood Day for years. This session our class will be called Eat your colors! Green, Brown, Yellow, White, Red, Orange, Blue, Black, Pink, Purple. Each class focuses on a new color – from the foods we cook to the after cooking stories told! Yum, and fun!

    Become a martial artist with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Professor Liz. This self-defense martial art teaches students about respect, discipline, and dedication.
