LOWER SCHOOL
We are thrilled to invite you to our annual K-5 Halloween Parade on Wednesday, October 28, from 8:40 to 9:00 a.m.! It’s a joyful event where students can show off their costumes and celebrate with their friends. Families, including grandparents and special friends, are welcome to join us and cheer on our K-5 students as they parade around the lower school yard in their costumes.
Here’s what you need to know:
Costumes: Students should come to school dressed in their costumes. To keep the day fun and safe for everyone, we’ve put together some friendly guidelines:
Shoes are required (no bare feet!).
No full face masks (except ones covering the nose and mouth).
No weapons.
Capes should not go past the ankles.
Avoid any blood, gore, or frightening elements.
Please be mindful of cultural sensitivity - no cultural appropriation. (What is this?)
For more guidance, please view “Is My Costume Appropriate for School?” poster.
Parade and Dance Party: The parade will start promptly at 8:40 a.m., followed by a quick dance party! We will enjoy snacks in the afternoon during the student-only Harvest Festival. We encourage students to bring snacks from home for recess as usual.
Costume Storage: After the fun, students will change out of their costumes for the rest of the school day. Please label all parts of your child’s costume and send them with a labeled bag so everything makes its way back home.
For Non-Parade Participants: We will have a designated gathering space for students who choose not to participate in the parade. Please email your classroom teacher in advance if your child would like to opt for this.
Parking: If you plan to attend, please park off-campus unless you have an accessibility placard.
A Reminder About Candy: In alignment with our Community Handbook guideline to pack nutritious food, please keep candy at home! Candy can also cause distractions and big feelings at school, so please refrain from sending it to school, including in your child’s snack or lunch.
We can’t wait to celebrate Halloween with you and your children! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Tony Cifra (LS Director) or Denise Breland (Director of Student Life/Dean of Students)
