Our curriculum guides clearly outline our philosophical approach, course overviews, key learning outcomes and benchmarks, and our approaches to teaching and learning in every academic and specialist discipline.
Redwood Day’s curriculum is rigorous, research-based, and continually evolving to meet the varied needs of our student body. Our program more than successfully prepares students for a wide range of high school options throughout the Bay Area, California, and the nation, as evidenced by the fact that 96% of our 8th graders place in their first or second choice high school and our alumni consistently report, via annual surveys, being highly prepared academically, socially and emotionally for high school and life.
Curriculum guides and maps have always existed at Redwood Day to inform our program and serve as a roadmap for student learning; they are required by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) for accreditation, and they are the bedrock of an exceptional academic program. Over my time at the School, our guides have taken on many different forms. Through the transformative leadership of Laurie Ransom, our Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and all of our teaching teams across the entire school, the newest version of our Curriculum Guides provides the most in-depth overview and transparency regarding learning outcomes and instructional approaches compared to previous versions.
Our team at Redwood Day sincerely hopes that these curriculum guides further solidify and strengthen your continued confidence in our rigorous and research-based program and the educational outcomes we achieve for every student.
