Celebrating 60 Years... A Warm Welcome to the Redwood Day Community!

Welcome, Redwood Day Parents and Guardians!

We hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. As Co-Presidents of the Parent Guardian Association (PGA), we extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to each of you as we embark on an exciting new academic year and the commencement of our historic 60th-anniversary celebration of Redwood Day.

Since its establishment six decades ago, Redwood Day has been a shining beacon of education, empowerment, and community. This year provides us with a unique opportunity to reflect on our journey and celebrate the values that have shaped our school into what it is today.

Every Redwood Day parent and guardian is a member of the PGA. We believe that when parents, guardians, teachers, and staff work together, we create an enriching and nurturing environment for our children to grow and thrive. We also believe that by participating in our community, we create a truly enriching and transformative educational experience for our students.

The opportunities to be a part of the PGA are varied, whether you have a little time or a lot! Perhaps secure a donation from your favorite restaurant for our online auction. Maybe volunteer as a cashier at the Book Fair. Pack meals at a Community Caring event. Decorate the Gallery for Black History Month. Bring a snack during ERB testing. Wrangle a line of kids at the rock climbing wall at Fall Festival. Help guide visitors at Generations Day. Shelve books in the Library. Serve hungry students during Pizza Friday (aka Hero-For-A-Day). We promise you will find your involvement to be personally rewarding and a great way to share your child’s experience. Every volunteering contribution, large and small, is deeply appreciated.

Throughout this jubilant year, we have planned many events, speaker series, and activities that highlight the essence of our school. These events bring us together, promote a sense of belonging, and foster lasting connections. We encourage you to actively participate in these, as your involvement is essential in building a vibrant school community.

Communication is also important to us and vital to our success. We welcome your ideas, suggestions, and feedback; your input is crucial in shaping the direction of the PGA and the school community. Feel free to reach out to us anytime at pga@rdschool.org and to attend monthly PGA meetings to share your thoughts.

We look forward to meeting each one of you and witnessing the enthusiasm and creativity of our students, the passion of our teachers, and the dedication of our staff as we embark on this remarkable journey together.

Thank you for being an indispensable part of Redwood Day’s history and its bright future. We are excited to share this memorable milestone with you and your children and wish you all a successful and fantastic start of the school year and our 60th-anniversary celebration!

Warm regards,

Ayanna Brown & Homero Espinosa
