Athletics

The Redwood Day Athletics Program seeks to enrich the social, emotional, and physical well-being of student athletes. Students of varying abilities participate and enjoy their involvement while coaches emphasize values of commitment, integrity, self-discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The majority of students here at Redwood Day participate on one or more of our interscholastic athletics teams. We encourage all of our students to tryout for one of the many teams we offer. We do our best to provide an opportunity to participate at an appropriate level of competition for each grade and experience level.
Redwood Day participates in a league with 15 independent and public middle schools in the East Bay. At the end of each season, we honor the efforts of our athletes and coaches at an Awards Assembly (new this year). Our program has several goals designed to meet the developmental needs of Middle School students:

  • to provide a physical, yet safe, outlet for students to find joy in expressing themselves athletically
  • to develop and improve athletic skills and abilities
  • to provide a level of athletic competitiveness that is both developmentally healthy and appropriate
  • to instill a love for the game
