A Message From The Head of School

Earlier this week, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) federal program will be ending. This action has upended life for nearly 800,000 young people, known as “Dreamers,” who have participated in the program since its inception five years ago. A provision to allow Congress six months to develop an alternative solution creates some level of hope.

It is important to us that our community knows we stand with these young people. We unequivocally support our immigrant families, and offer continued support to community members affected by this decision.

From an educational perspective, Redwood Day has always led with courage and respect for our students. When appropriate, and in partnership with parents/guardians, we will continue to discuss issues like this with our students to ensure they are intellectually and emotionally prepared to come to their own conclusions, ground themselves in their own personal values, and act with conviction as our future leaders.
