4th Grade Outdoor Education (Pigeon Point)

Our 4th-grade students visited beautiful Pigeon Point for three days and two nights as part of our Outdoor Education program. The students were able to walk through the state park and learn about many of the native plants that grow in this part of California as well as the history of the land. While walking, they were able to make connections to the native peoples that lived there. They also visited the State Reserve where they were able to visit an area of the park where only a limited number of people access due to the wildlife, such as the elephant seals. State law prohibits people from getting closer than 25 feet to the elephant seals and seeing a 5,000-pound animal up close was awe-inspiring for the students. There were also a bunch of elephant seal pups lounging and cruising the beach. It was an incredible experience overall for the students.
