We invite you to visit Redwood Day during the Admissions process. Please sign up online or call to schedule any or all of these events. Opportunities to visit include Tours, Open Houses, Family events, assemblies, student panels, and more!

  • Step 4: Assessments, Visits, and Testing

January and February 2019 – Please see calendar or sign up through your parent admissions portal.

    ASSESSMENTS
Our assessments allow the Admissions Committee and additional faculty to observe children in academic and social settings. An assessment is just one way we learn how a child will connect with, benefit from, and add to the learning community at Redwood Day.

Kindergarten and 1st Grade assessments are designed to determine the developmental readiness of a child for our program. Assessments for grades 2–8 involve social activities, informal interviews, and academic work packets that include reading, writing, math, and spelling components.

    SCHOOL VISITS
    4th & 5th Grade Visits:
Applicants to 4th and 5th grades are invited to spend time in their current grade to get to know their peer group at Redwood Day. The visit also allows us to observe children in a classroom setting. This visit is on the same day as the academic assessment.

    Middle School Visits:
Applicants to 6th–8th grades attend a visit and assessment day on a weekday in January/February. These appointments include sample classes, academic assessment, and fun activities! These visits must be scheduled in advance with the Admissions Office.

    INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (ISEE)
Applicants to grades 6–8 must register for the ISEE by early January in order to complete the exam no later than February 1, 2019. We consider the ISEE as one part of the applicant’s academic profile and we appreciate the additional information it provides when considered in conjunction with the rest of a student’s application and visits. To register for the ISEE at one of the local testing sites, please log on to www.erblearn.org or call 800.446.0320.
