Hello. I am pleased to welcome everyone back to school. "Back to school" means something different this year, but we are all united by our fellowship in the Redwood Day community.
These recent months have demanded a lot from us all. Through these times, I have found myself grateful for the leadership and thoughtful decision-making that has consistently marked our time here at Redwood Day. It is no small comfort to know that our children are in good hands during these chaotic and trying times. We are all searching for ways to get our families through this situation and we will do it together, with an eye to keeping each other safe and healthy.
As in previous years, your Parent Guardian Association will do our best to build community through events, activities, and volunteering. Some of our favorite traditions will look different this year but at heart, they come down to supporting our core missions of building community, supporting families, inspiring literacy and learning, fundraising to support the school's mission and accessibility, and supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in our community.
We can and will celebrate these values this year in ways that help keep us and our loved ones safer. This year we will look to each other and look out for each other.
Yes, we will need to be creative and flexible about how we do that in a time of physical distancing. And yes, we are cognizant of the fact that this moment presents special challenges for many in our community. But I know that we can meet these challenges with a spirit of care and generosity.
All parents and guardians of Redwood Day students are part of the PGA. I ask you as fellow members to consider how we can be of service to each other and to the community we share. Please consider volunteering with us or reach out to me with suggestions on how we can help one another. Let's take our creative, thoughtful, generous community and rise to the challenge of our times.
I am honored to serve you as PGA President and I wish you all a year of learning, growth, and goodwill.
PGA President, 2020-21
