Important Safety Reminders

We want to be very clear about how the event will work this year, to avoid surprise and confusion. Please read this webpage in its entirety to familiarize yourself with the logistics. We are trying our very best to produce an event that’s safe and healthy and doesn’t put our whole community at risk. Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.
Because the event is outdoors and on a non-school day, we have a little more flexibility in allowing families to attend. Students will remain in their grade-level cohorts and the Redwood Day campus will be split into two separate areas - in the Lower and Middle School yards - so that we can maximize the number of families on campus at a time while still keeping folks safely separated.

In addition to everyone remaining masked throughout the event, we’ve come up with the following guidelines to help keep us safe:

Parents & Guardians:
  • Whether attending the festival with your student(s), volunteering or attending the Middle School gathering for adults in the parking lot (see below), all parents/guardians are required to be vaccinated or will have to show proof of a negative PCR test taken within the three previous days.
  • All parents/guardians are required to RSVP for themselves and their student(s) in advance of the event.

K - 5 Students
  • Students will have a designated two-hour period of time in a particular area of campus to enjoy the festival within their grade.
  • No siblings will be allowed to attend, including non-Redwood Day students. The only exception will be a vaccinated Redwood Day sibling. Families with students in different grades should plan accordingly.
  • Students must be accompanied by at least one Redwood Day parent/guardian and can attend with a maximum of two parents/guardians and one older vaccinated Redwood Day sibling. Adults that are not Redwood Day parents/guardians are not permitted to attend.
  • A Redwood Day parent/guardian/family can bring and supervise one other Redwood Day student in the same grade.
6th - 8th Grade Students:
  • Students will mix throughout campus during their two-hour period of time, just as they do when they are outdoors on a school day.
  • No siblings from other grades will be allowed to attend with them.
  • Parents/guardians are invited to drop their Middle Schooler(s) off for the event, though we will be asking for volunteers to chaperone.
  • A casual gathering for Middle School parents/guardians only will be held simultaneously under the tent in the back of the main parking lot.

NOTE: if any of the above guidelines create an extreme hardship for your family, please email Katie Steele and the School will work directly with you to come up with a solution that meets our safety standards.

As in a normal year, we will rely on dozens of parent/guardian volunteers to help the event run smoothly. Please consider signing up for a shift or two. Vaccinated Redwood Day parents and guardians can volunteer during any grade level slot. Many thanks in advance for signing up to help!
