When: May 15 - 23, 2021
What: Join us for a reimagined Fun Run! Instead of walking or running around Lake Merritt in a big group like we normally do, we’re asking families to get active on their own. We invite you to run, walk or hike with your student(s) at any time during the week and log the distance on a super easy-to-use mobile app. This is a fun, FREE, community-building challenge that sets a good example for healthy living.
Where: Wherever you like! Lake Merritt, Joaquin Miller Park, your neighborhood - anywhere your family enjoys outside.
How: Click the button below from your mobile phone (easiest option!) or computer to access the Glide app:
Your phone might ask you to save it to your home screen, where you can use it like any other app. Or you can simply use it on your preferred web browser. We recommend leaving the tab open on your phone’s browser so you can easily get back to it.
The main tab shows the leaderboard with total school miles and miles by grade. Families can log their distance by clicking the "Log Runs" tab and then the "+" button in the upper right-hand corner. You are encouraged (but not required) to attach a picture of your student or family exercising, and it will show up in the "Pictures" tab.
If you have more than one student, please add each student separately and log their miles for their respective grade. For parents, the suggestion is to split your miles between your kids' grades (50/50, or based on which child comes with you on each walk, or whatever you consider to be fair).
Challenge: The Lower School AND Middle School grade that logs the most miles will win a pizza party at school! Every grade has a different number of students, so in order to level the playing field, we will calculate the average distance per grade to determine the winning Lower and Middle School grades.
Plus, if we beat our school-wide goal of 400 miles total, all grades will get a movie-watching party within their pods at school!
