Summer Reading 2011

Dear families, Summertime reading is my favorite kind of reading. Pleasure reading at it's best. Bathing in sun, in the cool shade of a tree, all my cozy winter reading nooks get moved to the outside air allowing me to fall into a book in a different way. This is the opportunity to  really nurture your child's love of reading. Their favorite magazines, graphic novels, nonfiction, whatever it is that they choose support it and encourage it. They are choosing to read and in the end that is all that really matters!

Native American Heritage Month

November is set aside as Native American Heritage Month, bringing awareness not only to the history of American Indians, but also to their consistent contributions to our country and the world. It is important to me, as the Librarian, that our students know that this is a living culture and not just a piece of history.

Redwood Day Summer Reading Suggestions

I have so many summer memories as a young girl lounging in the sun reading my favorite books over and over again.  For me summer is the time for pleasure reading of the finest variety.
