Dacher Keltner to Give Keynote Speech at 6th Annual Parent University, January 28

Oakland, California – January 5, 2012 –  Redwood Day School Parents’ and Guardians’ Association invites the East Bay community to attend the sixth annual Parent University conference on Saturday, January 28, 2012, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.  Parent University provides attendees with key information and insights on some of the most important topics facing today’s families.  The event will take place at Redwood Day School, an independent K-8 school, located at 3245 Sheffield Avenue in Oakland.

This year’s keynote speaker is Dacher Keltner, Ph.D., founding faculty director of the Greater Good Science Center and a professor of psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. Keltner is the author of Born to Be Good: The Science of a Meaningful Life and a co-editor of The Compassionate Instinct: The Science of Human Goodness. He will present “Ten Tips for a Meaningful Life.”

“Redwood Day School is delighted to be hosting our annual parenting conference once again,” said John Loeser, Head of School.  “The idea behind this event is to help adults better understand children and to provide them with a variety of tools and strategies that they can use immediately in family situations. It underscores our fundamental commitment to the school/family partnership and to developmentally-focused education.”

In addition to Keltner’s keynote, visitors can choose three of fourteen expert-led workshop sessions covering a variety of topics, including:
