Donating Books

How can you donate books at the Book Fair? Lots of ways! You can buy a book for the library, buy a book for a classroom, or participate in the BookShare program.

Donating Books to the Helen Dittmer Library at RDS
There will be a "Library Table" with books that the librarian has selected for the library. If you would like to buy one of the books for the library, bring the book to the cashier with the rest of your purchases. You'll pay for the book and complete a donor bookplate, and your donated book will be sent to the library.

Buying Books for Your Child’s Classroom
RDS teachers and staff are encouraged to make Classroom Wish lists to guide families who want to donate books to the school. These books will be available in the library, arranged by classroom.  No need to search yourself. Just grab what you’d like to donate and head to the register.

Donating Books through BookShare
Through BookShare, shoppers can donate money that will be used to purchase books for children and libraries of Oakland public elementary schools that are suffering from economic hardships.  Books will be selected and distributed to these schools through the Temple Sinai’s People of the Book Literacy Project.
