Book Fair
The annual RDS Book Fair took place on December 6-10, 2011 and was a tremendous success. Details of the event below:
December 6-10, 2011
Browse, learn about, and buy books for kids and adults of all ages—cookbooks, parenting books, you name it! Our Book Fair vendor, Books Inc., will provide hundreds of titles for children and adults. Books will be on display in the Gallery and in the Helen Dittmer Library. All proceeds to benefit RDSPGA.
Read, Give, Enjoy
The Book Fair generates excitement about books, literacy, and reading. It offers opportunities for parents and guardians to purchase books for the Helen Dittmer Library and classroom collections and raises funds for the Parents’ and Guardians' Association. Through BookShare, our school community also provides books to local schools' libraries that are suffering from economic hardship and to programs for children in need. Parents and guardians may also purchase gift certificates for the personal use of teachers and staff.
Each Redwood Day School class visits the Book Fair in the first few days during which students can compile a “wish list” to give to their families. Students can shop before school, during recess, and during lunch. After school and on Saturday morning, students can shop at the Book Fair if a parent or guardian accompanies them.
BookMark
Wednesday, November 30, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
A speaker's series featuring writer James Howe in the lower school library. As the author of both the Bunnicula series and The Misfits, he should appeal to all parties at RDS, including literature-minded parents and guardians. Please RSVP if you plan to attend and to request childcare.
BookBeat (formerly the "Book Bug Boogie")
Thursday, December 8, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
The Middle School BookBeat takes the love of books, words, and expression to a new level. This special event for the Middle School crowd is always a blast -- a big, fun party with books thrown in. A pizza dinner is complemented with potluck salads and desserts, and parent, guardians, and student performers/readers/reviewers all contribute to a fantastic evening.
BookJam
Saturday, December 10, 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Enjoy your last chance to browse the Book Fair and finish your holiday shopping unencumbered by children. X-Care staff will oversee a morning of cartoons and fun for your kids while you shop. Children are encouraged to come in their jammies. There will be breakfast snacks for the kids and Peet's coffee and treats for the adults too. Please RSVP if you plan to attend (information in the Friday Folder).
