Open Houses & Tours

Redwood Day School cultivates a diverse, inclusive community that engages, prepares, and inspires students to thrive academically, contribute to society, and lead healthy, meaningful lives.

We want you to have many opportunities to meet Redwood Day School faculty and administration, observe our program in action, and visit our beautiful three-and-a-half acre Oakland campus. It is our goal to provide you with as much information as you need to find that "just right!" school match for your child. We welcome you to attend multiple events and are always happy to answer your questions.

Visiting Redwood Day School

Our website is a helpful preliminary introduction to Redwood Day School. We look forward to meeting your in person at an open house and parent-led tour.

We strongly encourage attendance at an open house and do not require RSVPs at these events. Prospective middle school students are welcome at the Saturday Open House; otherwise admissions events are intended for adults only. We regret that we are not able to provide childcare at this time.

An open house will provide you with the opportunity to learn more about Redwood Day School faculty and classes. We begin the event with a welcome and introduction from our Head of School, John Loeser. Visitors  rotate through four classrooms, where teachers present mini-lessons, demonstrating their passion and expertise. This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to experience RDS through the eyes of a student. Each open house concludes with a Q & A session with John Loeser, Division directors, Kelly Nelson and Jim Rendle, and Admissions Director, Katrina Lappin.

Parent-led Tours

Because we want to ensure an admissions process in which you hear all representative voices, tours are led by current RDS parents. Tours offer an intimate view of the campus and classrooms and are an excellent complement to the big picture presented at our open house events. We ask that you schedule tours in advance since we arrange tours to include four to eight prospective parents and guardians per group.

Please call or email the Admissions Office for tour times, to ask questions, or to schedule a tour. We look forward to meeting you!
