  • 5th Grade Teacher

    Job Description and Desired Qualifications
    The 5th grade teacher is a dynamic educator who has experience in planning an integrated curriculum. This teacher will cover curricular components as defined by the 5th grade teaching team, and will work closely with their grade-level partner. The ideal candidate is committed to academic excellence and multiculturalism and understands the social and emotional growth and development of children. This individual will have a strong commitment to meeting the learning needs of each student, a teaching style that supports differentiation of instruction, a collaborative spirit, and an interest in building community in and outside of the classroom. Responsibilities will include teaching language arts, math, and history. Additional responsibilities include supporting and coordinating experiential ed activities, attending a multi-day Outdoor Education experience with students, partnering with the 5th and 6th grade team members to facilitate equity and inclusion work with students, and other assigned school-related duties (e.g., recess supervision, meetings, etc.). Average class size is 18-22 students. This position begins in August 2024.
     
    This is a full-time, exempt position, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays)
     
    Essential Requirements:
    • Bachelor of Arts
    • Minimum of 3-5 years’ classroom teaching experience
    • Natural rapport with children and effective classroom management skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Strong communication and organizational skills, and is motivated to work with a strong existing team
     
    Desired Qualifications and Traits:
    • Teaching credential or Masters’ Degree (preferred)
    • Integration of technology in curriculum
     
    Compensation/Benefits:
    Redwood Day offers highly competitive compensation and benefits. The anticipated pay range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the 5th Grade Teacher is $71,227 to $108,627, depending on factors such as experience and education.

  • Interim .5 FTE 7th & 8th Grade Learning Specialist

    Job Description and Desired Qualifications
    The 7-8 Learning Specialist is responsible for the overall coordination, oversight, monitoring, and remediation of student support services for students in 7th and 8th grade at Redwood Day. This position reports to the Middle School Director and collaborates closely with the K-6 Learning Specialist, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, School Counselor, classroom teachers, parents, and outside professionals.
     
    The 7-8 Learning Specialist will provide direct services to students through interpreting recommendations and accommodations, collaborating with teachers to enhance differentiation, and ensuring the effective implementation of learning plans. This position helps Middle School students understand their learning styles, assists teachers working with students with different learning needs, and coordinates all learning plans for students with formal diagnoses that require accommodations.
     
    The ideal candidate will have experience working with Middle School students and appreciate the opportunity to work with this age group that is experiencing lots of transitions in three short years. They will also be a strong collaborator with other teachers and community members, have a strong commitment to meeting the learning needs of each student, and have an interest in building a community.
     
    As a member of the Middle School faculty and staff, this individual may facilitate an enrichment activity, participate in various student and community activities, and attend professional development. Additional responsibilities include active involvement in collaborative teacher meetings, supervisory duties, and accompanying students on an annual outdoor education trip.
     
    Schedule and Hours
    This is a .5 FTE temporary exempt position beginning immediately through June 15, 2024.
     
    Essential Requirements
    • B.A. in related field; Master’s degree preferred
    • Experience working with students with learning differences; middle school aged preferred
    • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
    • Culturally competent, responsive, and sensitive to diverse populations

    Pay Scale
    The anticipated salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the part-time (.50 FTE) position of Interim 7-8 Learning Specialist is $37,320 to $48,745, depending on factors such as experience and education.
