Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity
“All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today.” - Chinese Proverb
Our school is one of a growing number across the globe participating in the 24-year-old SEED Project, founded at the Wellesley Centers for Women.
SEED faculty and staff participants at RDS seek to examine our own lives/backgrounds and to learn about others in order to create a community where all members are supported and valued. Participants engage in activities, readings, and films that focus on diversity and connection. Learning more about ourselves and listening to each other creates and supports a more balanced, equitable, inclusive, and understanding community. Expanding our learning and experience of race, gender, class, and other societal systems makes us feel more connected as a school and helps create strategies that better serve our students and the communities in which we live and work.
The group meets once a month on campus from September through May.
