Since 1963, Redwood Day School has been committed to shaping the lives of young people in Oakland and its surrounding communities. We live by our mission daily as our diverse, inclusive learning community engages, prepares, and inspires students to thrive academically, contribute to society, and lead healthy, meaningful lives.
At Redwood Day, we believe learning should be joyful and transformative. We capitalize on the “aha” moments when children light up as they figure out a perplexing math puzzle, sound out their first sentence, break out of their shells in an all-school performance, and celebrate a teammate’s success on the field. Every moment at Redwood Day is a celebration and a learning opportunity.
Our teachers are at the forefront of cutting edge educational practices. They recognize each child’s unique learning profile and endeavor to develop curriculum and methodologies that best meet the needs of the individual. Embracing the latest research on teaching and learning, our teachers create opportunities for all students to be appropriately challenged, to develop deep understandings, and to fall in love with exploring, discovering, and ultimately learning.
