The 4th grade RDS students have worked on book reviews. Below are some great books that 4th graders suggest you try. These will be updated weekly - so check back soon for more great books!

 

Mossflower, by Brian Jacques

The woodlanders in Mossflower were ruled by an evil wildcat queen who took all their food for taxes and treated them evilly.  So the woodlanders moved away deeper into the forest, but the wildcat wants to kill, enslave, and imprison them.  Martin the warrior goes to Salmandastron, mountain of the fire lizards, seeking Boar the fighter to help the woodlanders destroy the queen.  Recommended by Daniel S.

 

 

A Corner Of The Universe, by Ann M. Martin

Hattie Owens lives in the small town of Millerton, Maine. Hattie’s summer has just begun when she finds out about her uncle. He makes Hattie see things she never saw. Then, suddenly, everything changes.  Recommended by Sarah S.

 

Joey Pigza Losses Control, by Jack Gantos

Joey goes to his dad’s house for the first time he can remember. Then a bunch of trouble comes up when he doesn’t expect it.  Recommended by Claire T.

 

Pixie Tricks: The Greedy Gremlin, by Tracey West

A gremlin named Jolt has Violet’s cousin trapped inside a video game. His magic is powerful but Violet and Sprite have a few tricks of their own.  Recommended by Courtney S.

The Cat Ate My Gym Suit, by Paula Danziger

A girl who is very chubby found a friend.  Her dad doesn’t like that she is chubby.  Their teacher got fired and they try to figure out where their teacher is.  Recommended by Moriah T.

 

Lunch Money, by Andrew Clements

It’s about a boy named Greg who has a talent at everything but finds an arch enemy named Maura.  Maura is an annoying girl who copies all Greg’s ideas to make money.  Recommended by Brendan W.

The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan

Percy is not one of your average 6th graders.  He has only one friend, Grover. He’s always getting expelled from school. Then he’s attacked by Medusa [his algebra teacher]. He goes to Camp Half Blood where he finds many secrets. Can he retrieve Zeus’s thunderbolts or will he die of Zeus’s wrath?  Recommended by K.J. W.

 

There’s A Boy In The Girls Bathroom, by Louis Sacher

A fifth graders struggle turns him into a good person. Carla helped him by turning in his homework. He gets a lot of friends.  Recommended by Amos S.
