open houses and campus tours

We want you to have many opportunities for you to meet our administration and faculty, observe our program in action, and visit our beautiful Oakland campus. It is our goal to provide you with as much information as you need to find the right school match for your child. We welcome you at multiple events and are always happy to answer your questions.
Visiting Redwood Day School
Our website is a great preliminary introduction to Redwood Day School. We also look forward to meeting your in person at an open house and parent-led tour.
We strongly encourage attendance at an open house and do not require RSVPs at these events. Prospective middle school students are welcome at the Saturday open houses; otherwise admissions events are intended for adults only. We regret that we are not able to provide childcare at this time.
Our Weekday Open House begins with a welcome and introduction from our Head of School, Mike Riera. Middle school students will then lead you on a guided campus tour. After the tour, there is a brief presentation and a Q & A with our division directors Warren Sepkowitz and Denise Breland. If your schedule allows, we invite you to stay for our 10:50 a.m. all-school assembly that follows the Open House.
Our Saturday Open House will provide you with the opportunity to learn more about Redwood Day School faculty and classes. We begin the event with a welcome and introduction from our Head of School, Mike Rieral. Following the welcome, visitors will rotate through four classrooms, where teachers will be presenting mini-lessons. Our faculty will lead you in four sample lessons where you will experience their passion and expertise first-hand. We will wrap up the open house with a Q & A session with Mike Riera and our division directors Warren Sepkowitz and Denise Breland.

Parent-led Tours
Tours are led by current RDS parents. Tours offer an intimate view of the campus and classrooms and are an excellent complement to the big picture perspective presented at our open house events. We ask that you schedule tours in advance since we arrange tours to include 4-8 prospective parents per tour guide.
Tours will be offered on the following dates:
October 2009: 1, 2, 7, 13, 14, 19, 21, 27, 28
November 2009: 2, 6, 9, 10, 11, 23
December 2009: 2, 4, 7, 10, 14, 16
January 2010: 6, 8, 11
