Admission Process
Learning about Redwood Day School
Students and Families can visit and become familiar with the school in a variety of ways during the enrollment season. Because the enrollment season is over, we invite parents and guardians to schedule individual tours with our office. Students will be invited to the school for an assessment and/or class visit after an application is submitted.
Applying to Redwood Day School
To apply to Redwood Day School for the 2008 - 2009 school year, please complete the following steps. These steps are fully outlined in the Rolling Admission Procedures guide. You may apply online, download and print all of the application materials directly from the links provided, or contact Katrina Lappin to request that a packet be mailed to you.
- Complete the Application Form (including your answers to the five questions on the final page) and submit it with the $80.00 application fee to the Redwood Day School admission office. This starts the application process. Please call the admission office if you would like to request an application fee reduction.
- Sign the Records Release Form and give it to your child's current school. Kindergarten and First grade applicants do not need this form.
- Sign blank Teacher Recommendation Form(s) (K or 1 - 8) and give them to your child's current and/or recent teacher(s). Applicants to K and First grade only need one recommendation form; applicants to Second through Eighth grades should obtain recommendations from two teachers.
- Call the Admission Office to schedule an assessment at RDS.
- Applicants to Fourth through Eighth grades: schedule a student visit with the Admission Office.
- Applicants to the Middle School:
- Sign up for and take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). You may register online at the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) website or by calling the ERB at 1-800-446-0320. Group testing is not offered between March and September. Middle School applicants during these months should contact ERB to learn about individual testing options.
- Submit a handwritten writing sample. This may be an assignment returned to the student in the last six months, or a one-page essay on a topic of the student's choice.
The financial aid application process is separate from the enrollment application process. Please visit Redwood Day School's Financial Aid page to learn about or apply for financial assistance at RDS.
